M.I.A.

Sick Teddy I’ve been a little MIA this week (reflected in my lack of new posts) so here’s the skinny on my absence.

Monday night I started to feel icky. Early Tuesday morning I started to have chest pains and shortness of breath. When it didn’t go away my hubs decided it was necessary to go to the Emergency Room. I’m not a fan of ER’s, but then again who is, so it took some insistence on his part, but finally I agreed to go. The end result was that I had “Atypical Chest Pain” caused from an infection of the muscle of the heartSick Heart , also known as Myocarditis. Many things can cause this from a simple viral infection to an autoimmune disorder (which coincidentally my Primary Care Physician believes I might have due to a specific set of symptoms I’ve had for the last five years, and has recently referred me to a specialist for further evaluation).

There is no treatment per se for Myocarditis, sometimes they prescribe steroids but there is conflicting results on whether or not they actually work, so typically they just treat the symptoms and most cases resolve themselves in time. Those that don’t resolves themselves can lead to bad things like Sick Bunny Congestive Heart Failure, but there’s no reason to worry about that at the moment.

The ER staff stabilized my vitals, then sent me home. They instructed me to continue with my prescribed medications (as many of them would treat my symptoms) and to avoid physical activity for the next few days, hence why I’m not at work right now. They also said if I don’t feel better within 24 hours to follow up with them or my Primary Care Physician.  Yesterday I still felt pretty icky and today, while for the most part my chest pain is getting better, every nowSick Lego Smiley and then it hurts like Holy Hannah.  Meanwhile my shortness of breath is directly related to the amount of physical activity I do, getting much worse when I’m moving around. So, I’ll see how things go today and if I’m still having problems, I’ll call tomorrow morning to get in and see my PCP before the long weekend, but really I’m just hoping I start to feel better.

I hope they figure out what is wrong with you! And that it is treatable and you are able to get better soon. My family is full of autoimmune disease (upside- no cancer).

Oh, Sweetie! That totally sucks! Take care of yourself and let your hubby spoil you. I haven't had a chance to pass on the lovely award you gave me, but I will do it soon, hopefully. I try to make my selections carefully and that means I have to do a lot of reading for this one! I probably won't give it to 15 blogs, but the ones I do bestow it on will be worthy. Thanks again so much. It's now proudly displayed in my sidebar with your blog's name emblazoned above it.

I hope you feel better soon and the doctors figure out whats exactly happening. Have lots of rest and relax time! I'm learning more and more how acupuncture is good for this kind of thing, it treats the root instead of the symptoms. When you have time after you feel better, if you check out acupuncturists just make sure they are licensed. Sending you positive peaceful recovery wishes!

Hello There. I stopped in to say hello out of the clear blue. Then I read your story, oh my. Take good care of your self. You have a lot of living to do. I lived in Hawaii for many years too and sometimes miss it. It did get a little small and expensive, and HOT. But I loved it when I was there. Have you in my prayers, take care. I'm following you.
